Turnkey Design – What Is It, and What Makes It so Appealing?

February 13th, 2010

At Interiors Design Group, one of our most popular services, and one in which we take great pride, is turnkey design. Though it is a term that we have been hearing with more frequency lately, we thought there may be some of you out there who are still unfamiliar with it. Thus, we would like to explain the nature of the term, and how it relates to our services.

The term turnkey can be used in virtually any industry to refer to a product or service that is purchased ready to be used. In interior design terms, this usually refers to a project that, once completed, leaves the homeowner with a home that is ready to be lived in. Depending on the design firm, this service can include paint, wallpaper, furniture, window coverings, artwork, kitchenware, small appliances, and more.

From a homeowner’s perspective, there are several advantages to turnkey design. Most importantly, you don’t have to do it yourself. Unless you really enjoy doing this sort of thing, it can be a big headache. The thought alone of the plenitude of stores you will need to visit in order to furnish your perfect home can quickly become overwhelming. This can be especially true if you and the home you are trying to furnish are not even in the same state, as is the case for most of our clients.

Additionally, professional designers typically have access to different product than the public. This may range from different fabric patterns to higher quality furniture. Also, many times, the designers are able to get the products at a better price, and can pass the savings on to the client.

At Interiors Design Group, we offer all of these services, and much more. And we do it at an affordable price. Because we have preselected a wide variety of furniture and theme packages, we do not charge hourly design rates when the client purchases their furnishings from us. We are able to quote the charges for the turnkey design packages up front, and include no hidden costs.

Whether you live on the mainland and need to furnish a vacation rental, or live in the city and have a country home that needs furnishing, Interiors Design Group has a turnkey design package that will suit your tastes and lifestyle. We like to say that when we are done with your home, all you need to do is turn the key…and enjoy. Contact us today to see how we can turn a turnkey design package into a design solution for you.

Aloha! Interior Design from Honolulu, Hawaii

September 28th, 2009

Aloha, which has a number of meanings, such as hello, goodbye, love, peace, and compassion, has become an integral part of my vocabulary after living in Honolulu, Hawaii for the past nine years. I moved here from Princeton, New Jersey in December 2000, and have lived in various cities across the United States, including Honolulu, Princeton, Sacramento, California, Huntington Beach, California and Denver, Colorado.

One of the things I noticed once moving to Hawaii, after taking in all the beauty of course, was the limited number of furniture stores and lack of selection among them, compared to what I was used to on the mainland. I found it difficult to furnish my own home. I figured other people must have the same problem, so I decided my mission would be to assist others with the process of furnishing their home by offering them a wide selection of quality furniture and accessories, along with the services of a professional interior designer. Thus, Interiors Design Group was born.

The Hawaii studio opened in July 2001, and has grown to serve all of the Hawaiian Islands, along with the continental United States, and has had clients from Japan, Canada, California, Maryland, Illinois, Boston, and Seattle.

In August 2009, we underwent a new endeavor – the opening of our Virginia design studio, located in Wintergreen, Virginia. We are looking forward to meeting more wonderful people, and being able to experience “Aloha” in Virginia and Hawaii.

Aloha,
Barbara
